|"Untitled 504" Canon FTb Scanned 8 x 12 Print|
I apologise for the delay in this Blog post I got a chest infection that put me out of action for the past few weeks, After playing catch up I finally got a chance to sit down and do this post.
I saw CW Stoneking perform with his band back in November, they were all excellent and CW did not disappoint performing the majority of his two albums along with a few covers.
It would have been fantastic to see him do Bad luck everywhere you go but he left it out, he did do a spectacular version of Way out in the world that silenced everyone along with the wicked Love me or die.
The 25% off all final orders code has now finished, Thank you all who chose to buy something from the shop I say it often because it is true it means a lot to me that people like my work enough to purchase.
The free delivery discount code will continue until 1st of January 2012 but keep an eye out for a new discount code in the middle of January.
My Christmas week has been a busy one baking cakes, buying those last minute Christmas presents, wrapping the said presents and posting the last of the studio shop orders.
I finally got to relax today wrapped up warm at home while blustery winds and cold downpours of rain kept the old dog indoors sighing at the inconvenience of having to go outside to the toilet.
Lashings of tea and biscuits threaten to be the death of me, there is the stereotype of the English whom love a cup of tea but I think in honesty we Irish love it more. A cuppa tea cures the lot.
I had hoped to finish the current series of Photographs that I have been posting and writing about on the Blog site by the end of December but that has fallen by the wayside due to my abysmal immune system. So the series will run into January once that has finished I will post up the other prints that I promised during the previous Blog posts and then its on to the brand new series.
There are going to be some new editions to the Online shop too so keep an eye out. Okay on to Business.
Notes on "Untitled 504"
When I approached this shot I knew I wanted to capture the opening of the solid white petals on a predominately dark (black) background to emphasis the fluid opening of the petals. The white on a darker background strengthens the contours of the flower. I had to wait for about two hours for the petals to open as wide as possible but I feel it was well worth the wait.
I had the choice of solid black but chose to go with a textured background instead. Using a small shrub in the background to create the rumpled texture. Simply by moving around a little one can create a completely different image, The background engulfs the stem giving the illusion of the flower head floating.
Mounted and framed this print looks aesthetically pleasing and hangs well. It is one of my favourites from the current series.
I wish all who celebrate it a Merry Christmas and all the best for the new year.
Take care of one another
